First Post

I have wanted to start a blog for some time now but had no idea what the subject should be. Successful bloggers say it should be something you are passionate about, and I struggled to find one area or niche that encompassed a true passion of mine. I read healthy living blogs, food blogs, decorating blogs, psychology blogs and news blogs. None of those labels ever felt "right" to me. I know I have a voice however, I have many interests, hobbies and passions none more important than another. Then while scraping wallpaper in my new house, it came to me like a bolt of lighting - ME! One thing I know is that without fail I wake up each morning wanting to do a little better than I did yesterday. Each day provides a new opportunity to become a little more me, becoming a little more Kerry. My educational background is in counseling psychology, therefore I have spent a good number of years analyzing myself, my childhood the impact my life experiences have had on me. I am hoping by sharing a little of who I am, others may get a little insight into what makes them tick.

I think it is important to live life by a set of truths. I have a set of truths I live by at work, they are typed and posted on my cork board. I don't refer to them nearly enough but they are there. I have a mental list of things that are most important to me that I can rattle off on-demand and I live by those too.

I would like to outline a set of truths for my blog so here we go made up totally on the fly (so I reserve the right to change them):

1. I will not lie.
2. I will reveal my screw ups.
3. I will try to avoid annoying jargon.
4. I will believe that any feedback comes from a good place.
5. I will reference other people's work.
6. I will learn from my readers (see #4).
7. I will answer your questions.
8. I will admit when I don't know things.
9. I will write mindful posts.
10. I will be a little better today than I was yesterday.

Happy reading, I am excited to be here.
